D1’s Community Support: The Vision of Children

The Vision of Children Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in San Diego, Calif., sponsors research, outreach and educational programs for the visually impaired. The organization is dedicated to eradicating hereditary blindness and vision disorders in children.

In early 2002, Bob and Linda Hallam generously pledged a donation of one dollar to the Vision of Children Foundation (VOC) for every D1 Vision Cartridge D1 sold to its base of authorized D1 dealers. On October 25, 2002, during D1’s 25th Anniversary Celebration, D1 presented VOC with D1’s first donation of $75,000.

Then during D1’s 30th Anniversary Celebration on January 26, 2007, the Vision of Children Foundation received an additional $100,000 donation, thanks to the generosity of 300 celebration guests, a 50-50 pledge match from the Hallams, and D1’s ongoing Vision Cartridge donation program.

Said Samuel A. Hardage, Chairman of the Vision of Children Foundation, "We are truly grateful to be associated with Dimension One. D1 is an outstanding and devoted supporter of the Vision of Children Foundation. The $100,000 check from D1's dealers, employees, managers and suppliers represents the single largest donation in our history!

He added: "It's crystal clear that D1 has a passion for service, both in business and in the community."

D1 is the world's first hot tub manufacturer to include Braille as part of its state-of-the-art hot tub control panel. D1 also sells the audio CDs of world famous Andrea Bocelli at participating dealerships around the nation. All profits are donated to VOC. Bocelli, who has been blind since the age of 12, first teamed with VOC several years ago, raising needed funds to support VOC's mission.
